New York-based metal project QUEMASANTOS has officially opened digital pre-orders for its forthcoming second album, Stranded In Hell, while simultaneously releasing the album’s opening track, “One Foot In Hell,” accompanied by its official lyric video.

Fans who pre-order the album digitally can immediately hear “One Foot In Hell,” the first chapter of the eleven-song descent that makes up Stranded In Hell.
Musically, “One Foot In Hell” draws heavily from the aggressive character of late-'80s and early-'90s thrash and death metal. The song began from the memory of the type of fast, old-school Pestilence-influenced drumming that QUEMASANTOS founder Ignacio Orellana had always been drawn to, but developed into something broader as the composition took shape.
The track combines fast thrash-driven sections with a contrasting middle passage that became the foundation for its guitar solo section, carrying influences that Orellana associates with bands including Anthrax, Metallica, and elements of his own musical history.
Joining QUEMASANTOS on “One Foot In Hell” is Colombian guitarist Juancho Gómez of Masacre, whose performance brings another direct connection to the South American death metal tradition that has influenced Orellana throughout his career.
Orellana comments:
“One Foot In Hell was actually one of the last songs that came together for the album, but once it was finished, I knew it was the right place to begin. It has tha st old-school aggression I grew up loving, but it also contains several different pieces of my own musical history. For me, it became the perfect first step into Stranded In Hell.”
Vocalist and lyricist Nelson “Sr. Díaz” describes the track:
“One Foot In Hell is one of the most intense songs I’ve recorded in recent years. Many different styles coexist harmoniously within it, along with a high level of vocal demand. I believe the infernal horror it presents is captured faithfully through a demonically powerful yet technical performance that will take us into a paroxysm of metal.”
Stranded In Hell marks the second QUEMASANTOS album featuring Sr. Díaz on vocals and lyrics, and the first album by the project performed entirely in English.
The record was constructed differently from a traditional band recording process. Orellana composed the majority of the material beginning with the bass, followed by drums and guitars, allowing the bass to function as an independent compositional voice rather than simply following the guitar arrangements.
“One Foot In Hell” was the notable exception: its composition began with the guitars.
The finished album features 11 songs and 11 guest guitarists, with musicians from across the international metal scene contributing to individual tracks.
Vocals were recorded at Estudios Ultrasónico with Arturo Contreras and Estudios Attic with Marco Cusato.
The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Ignacio Orellana at Oily Sound Studios in New York.
QUEMASANTOS will host the previously announced Stranded In Hell Listening Party on September 15 at 7:00 PM, giving listeners the opportunity to hear the full album ahead of its worldwide October 9 release.

More than an album cover, the artwork serves as the visual gateway into the record's conceptual universe. Designed to reflect the descent that unfolds throughout the eleven songs, the image introduces a dark, infernal landscape where each chapter represents another step deeper into a world shaped by fear, temptation, justice, isolation, and survival.
Musically, Stranded In Hell expands on Quemasantos' foundation of classic heavy and thrash metal with crushing riffs, memorable melodies, cinematic atmospheres, and dynamic arrangements. Every song contributes to a single narrative, making the album a complete listening experience rather than a collection of individual tracks.
The album was written by drummer and producer Ignacio Orellana during one of the most difficult periods of his life, while his wife battled cancer. Originally composed as fifteen songs, the project was ultimately refined into eleven chapters that form the final journey presented on Stranded In Hell. Vocalist Nelson Díaz developed the lyrical concepts that brought this infernal world to life.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ignacio Orellana at Oily Sound Studios in New York City, the album also features eleven guest musicians who contribute throughout the record.

Quemasantos has released their new single “Planet Vampire” today on all major digital platforms worldwide, alongside the premiere of the official lyric video, now available on YouTube.
Planet Vampire is a dark homage to the horror and science-fiction cinema of the 1960s — films that later found a second life on late-night television during the 1980s. These shadowy, grain-filled broadcasts sent chills down the spines of unsuspecting children who secretly turned on the TV after bedtime, discovering forbidden worlds while their parents slept. That atmosphere of unease, imagination, and primal fear forms the core of the song’s identity.
The music for Planet Vampire was written, performed, mixed, and mastered by Ignacio Orellana, delivering a cohesive and immersive sonic experience rooted in heaviness, tension, and cinematic pacing. Vocals and the conceptual vision for the track were created by Nelson Díaz, whose narrative-driven approach reinforces the song’s connection to classic horror and sci-fi storytelling. The track also features a guest lead guitar solo by Richard Pilnik, a highly respected and versatile guitarist from the Chilean metal scene, known for his work with Warpath, Vastator, and the progressive metal band Entrance.
Reflecting on the song’s origins, Ignacio Orellana explains:
“We’re finally releasing this track, which has been in the can since the very beginning. In fact, Planet Vampire was the very first song I wrote for this second incarnation of Quemasantos. As I’ve been saying over the past few months, I just wanted to focus on playing bass this time around. When I started this new phase, everything began with the bass, and from there the entire song grew around it.
Overkill, Megadeth, Judas Priest, and Accept were some of the clearest influences during the writing process, and I think that comes through in the final result. I hope everyone enjoys it. There’s a lot more music coming next year. Wishing everyone a great end to the year.”
Nelson Díaz adds perspective on the song’s conceptual roots:
“B-movie cinema from directors like Corman, Bava, or Fulci terrified me as a child. Today it can even make me laugh, but those childhood feelings are still there.”

In the past, Sr. Diaz has always come up with the concepts for the music I’ve been writing. This time, I asked him to work under my concept, which was based on what I was experiencing at the time (which was during the time before my wife’s passing).
He kindly agreed to do it, and I’m just happy with the way he performed and used all the material I gave him. He’s a true friend and a master of metal interpretation. I love him.
Burning the black is an analogy to the process of receiving chemotherapy, which burns the cancer cells in the body. The concept for the track came to me while watching my wife fight cancer for six years, which tragically ended with her dramatic death.
The lyrics are narrated from the perspective of death, constantly reminding you that it will take you and that no matter what you do, it’s inevitable.
The music encapsulates the life cycle of a person, beginning with the gradual and transformative changes life brings and concluding in a manner reminiscent of its inception.
On a personal note, this has been a brutal and devastating time, as well as strange to lose my life partner of 31 years. It still feels unreal. This song is essentially what I can translate from the experience of being there next to her and witnessing her decline from good to bad. I genuinely hope that people can understand it the way I’m trying to convey it. I loved my wife, and she will always be with me.
Our guest musician for this track was Felipe Roa, the lead guitarist for metal bands Acaro and Shadows Fall.With extensive studio recording and touring experience, Roa has also owned and operated Boston Guitar Tech, providing professional services such as guitar setups, fretwork, electronics, and online and in-person lessons.

'Stalking Sharks' is about an allegory of war that clouds the mind and stains the vision red due to the absence of reason and uncontrollable desire to kill.
This is our first track in English since we started this project in 2012 with Spanish lyrics, but we have switched our mindset since we have the ability to do so and now we are going to be delivering more and more music this way.
The music of this track was written and perform in its entirely by Ignacio Orellana and the lyrics, vocals and overall concept was conceived by Nelson Diaz. The guest musician on this track was Marco Cusato (Warpath, Somberwind), who performed the guitar solo.

‘ I needed to go back to the hard side ofthrash (direct and straight to the point), and of course… if it was made with friends that lived the genre in its splendor, even better. ‘Stalking Sharks’ includesa pretty stellar guest which is Mr. Marco Cusato, legendary guitarist/vocalist of the band Warpath. This track reunites members of Warpath, Vastator & Pirosaint. I really had fun working with them doing this’.

‘After the pandemic, we faced a new challenge, suddenly no one have time to continue to work on our project, so I just took the matter in my own hands and I have been working harder to make it happen. These are now my ideas and feelings towards metal music. These are ideas and feelings mixed all together on each track that has been created since then. This is the first one of many to come, I have been busy creating new music for Quemasantos and my local project ‘Spread The Wound’. I just hope that gets to the right audience.
